Define. Gather. Agree.

  • 01The decision you need
  • 02The boundary of the work
  • 03The information available
  • 04The people to involve

01 / Before the first discussion

Prepare a useful starting point.

A complete document pack is not required for an initial enquiry. Record the gaps so they can be included in the scoping conversation.

01

For either assessment

Describe the facility, the reason for the assessment, the systems or process in scope and the people who know them.

02

For a HAZOP discussion

List available process descriptions, current drawings, operating information and earlier study records. Agree the required set with the study team.

03

For an OT security discussion

List available asset information, high-level network diagrams, access arrangements and existing response procedures. Agree a channel for restricted material.

How we work

Keep the first enquiry focused.

  1. 01

    Describe the concern

Explain why the work is being considered now.

  2. 02

    Name the decision

Say what the assessment should help you decide.

  3. 03

    List the material

Identify what exists and what may need updating.

  4. 04

    Agree the next step

Confirm scope, participants and how information will be shared.

Questions

What teams usually ask.

Is this a mandatory document list?

No. It is a starting point for scoping. The actual document requirements depend on the facility, the assessment method and the agreed work.

Should we attach sensitive drawings to the first enquiry?

Start with a description and a document list. Agree access and a suitable transfer channel before sharing restricted information.
